Carnival Brightening Face Mask Review

So it's my 2nd beauty face mask. My skin didn't break out on my first mask, so on we go with the Beauty Face Mask Challenge.

The first was a brightening mask that helps with sebum and blackheads. Now we're going with another brightening mask. This time it's from the Carnival brand (also from Watson's).

Packaging is um, a curious case:

All it says in English are "Carnival" and "Brightening Face Mask". The rest are in Korean. A little intimidating, but the design is too intriguing to not notice in a sea of options at Watsons. The back also needs some serious translation:

Er will fix the sidewaysness when I get on a PC. Ugh blogging on my phone. Sahree.

Yeah so it doesn't really say much about the product. Just instructions on how to use it. So I'm a little scared but it's kind of too late now to deal with the fear since the mask is already on my face as I type.

It's quite disturbing. I also hate how small and narrow the mask is. I have pretty large and wide eyes, and as you can tell from the picture they don't fit well in the holes.

The sheet is not as thick as the charcoal mask I tried but it's not at least too thin that it tears easily. I was able to squeeze all the essence off of it after wearing it for 20 mins.

The essence smells and feels like unscented hand sanitizers. There's so much of it left inside the package that I was able to put it on my neck, chest, arms, stomach and feet! Not sure if that's a good thing, because it also means my face and the sheet didn't absorb the product.

Unlike the first mask, I am not buying this mask again. One, because I didn't enjoy the whole process. The product is too sticky and smelly I wasn't able to relax the whole time. Two, because the fit is just all sorts of wrong. Product can get in the eyes if you're not careful - what if you fall asleep with it on? Three, because it's just too creepy-looking I had to lock my door just so no one will see me wear it. It looks like a Halloween costume.

Will update this is I develop a reaction or something.

UPDATE

  • My skin started to itch half an hour after taking the mask off. I decided to remove the residue of the essence with cetaphil. I woke up with a bright, clear, and calm skin. But again, I'm not repurchasing this product. The fit was that bad. I also do not know what would have happened had I decided to sleep with all the essence left on my face. Glad I wasn't too lazy to wash my face that day.
